IRON CITY
WORSHIP
Originating in Birmingham, Alabama, Iron City Worship is a collective of worship leaders and musicians that exist to make the Gospel known by leading and creating music that strengthens the church. Their heart is focused on connecting the church to its past, present and future by centering itself on the Word of God.
The group is a diverse collection of leaders that come from a variety of backgrounds in worship leadership. They are united by their heart for the church and raising up the next generation of worship leaders through resourcing and equipping those called to lead worship.
Iron City Worship is comprised of four main leaders: Demetrius Hicks, Jared Shepard, Drew Kearney, and Jess Leslie. Each leader is passionate about worship leadership and are pastors in various capacities at their respective local church. Worship events are often comprised of two or more of this leadership group, alongside a team of musicians who lead alongside them.

Demetrius Hicks
Demetrius is a pastor and elder at Iron City Church in Birmingham, AL, and has long had a passion for leading worship, pastoring individuals, and empowering and equipping leaders in various capacities. He has been involved in ministry for a majority of his life whether in leading worship or pastoring in other capacities. He has a background in business and administration and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in psychology in hopes of being able to better equip leaders in awareness of emotional and spiritual health.

Jared Shepard
Jared is a worship pastor for college & contemporary services at Calvary Tuscaloosa in Tuscaloosa, AL. He has a heart for raising up the next generation of the Church through worship, teaching, and discipleship. Jared has a background in business management and marketing and is pursuing a Masters degree from Fuller Theological Seminary to be better equipped to love and serve the Church and continue to raise up leaders through worship and teaching. Jared is married to his wife, Clara, and they have a son, Khyden, along with their two dogs, Sophia and Keirah.
Aside from worship and teaching, Jared loves being outdoors with his family, enjoying the lake or the mountains, reading, traveling, and enjoying food.

drew kearney
Drew is a worship pastor at Mountain Brook Community Church, in Birmingham, AL. He is passionate for shepherding the people of God to the Throne of God through worship and has a heart for pastoring the people before him through intentionally leading people in worship and teaching. Drew is married to his wife, Becca, and they have a dog, Abita. When he is not leading worship or pastoring, Drew loves to fish, watch sports, travel, and simply relax at home with his family.
Drew and Becca are in the process of adopting their future child from Colombia and are waiting to be matched with their child. If you would like to learn more about this process and how you can give and become more involved please reach out to Drew, and also pray alongside their family.

jess leslie
Jess is a worship pastor at Iron City Church in Birmingham, AL. She has an endearing heart for those she is leading to feel the heart of God for His people. Jess is enrolled at Beeson Divinity School pursuing a Masters of Divinity to help her to be better equipped to lead and serve the Church through pastor leadership in the local church context. She is married to her husband, Alex. In her free time, Jess enjoys watching sports, spending time with friends and family, reading, and also traveling.
